Obama headquarters reopens in Lawrence

Barack Obama’s campaign is reigniting its campaign in Lawrence, as part of its plan to raise support for the Democratic candidate in every state. The Obama headquarters officially opens today at the Douglas County Democratic Party’s headquarters at 925 Iowa, beneath Crimson and Brews.

Obama supporters – and even those who are just curious about the candidate – are invited to participate in a neighborhood canvass and a phone bank from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. The campaign will make calls to voters every day for the next 60 days, and will canvass local neighborhoods every weekend until the election.

John Wilson, Democratic candidate for the state House of Representatives in the 45th District, will join Obama supporters today.

The campaign had staffers in Lawrence from October to February, leaving the area after the Feb. 5 primaries.
