Autopsy inconclusive on cause of teen’s death
Pretty Prairie ? Autopsy results of a 15-year-old girl found dead Sunday in her mother’s home were inconclusive, an official said.
Toxicology reports will have to be used to find a cause of death, Reno County Sheriff Randy Henderson said. Those reports take six to eight weeks.
Kelsey Gonsalves, of Belle Plaine, was found by her mother Melissa Gonsalves in a basement bedroom, according to the sheriff’s office.
Officials found no indications of carbon monoxide leaking in the basement, Henderson said, and no illicit drugs were found, although authorities took prescription medications from the home.
“I’m sure the toxicology report will show what was in her system, which ought to tell us a lot,” he said.
Kelsey’s boyfriend was found in the room with Kelsey. The boyfriend, who was described as disoriented, was hospitalized.
