KU students report intruder

A group of female Kansas University students reported that an intruder climbed in through the window of their central Lawrence home early Tuesday, a crime police are classifying as an attempted sexual battery because the man’s intentions were unknown.

The Journal-World initially reported the incident as a sexual assault, but police say there was no evidence the man actually touched any of the women improperly while inside the home.

A 23-year-old resident of the home said she woke up about 3 a.m. and found the man standing in her bedroom door. She confronted him, and he fled.

She told police he appeared to be under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The man was described as a white male in his 20s, about 5 feet 10 inches tall and 190 pounds, wearing pants and a lime-green polo shirt.
