Couple charged in theft of $2 million from employer

? A Kansas couple has been indicted on charges of embezzling about $2 million from the wife’s employer, U.S. Atty. Todd Graves said.

Tamie J. Gordon, 42, and Ronald E. Gordon, 38, both of Overland Park, Kan., were charged in an indictment returned Wednesday by a federal grand jury.

The 16-count indictment alleges that Tamie Gordon embezzled approximately $2 million since January 1996 from Print Time Inc. of Leawood, Kan., where she worked as a controller from 1992 until Feb. 11.

The indictment claims Tamie Gordon wrote checks from the company’s account that were deposited into the couple’s joint bank accounts. It also charges she made wire transfers from the company’s account to the couple’s accounts.

The indictment also claims she concealed the embezzled funds by destroying the checks and making false entries in the company expense account records.

In addition, the indictment contains criminal forfeiture counts, which would require the couple to relinquish $2 million in cash and a series of expensive items including a home, automobile, pool table, two televisions and jewelry.
