Special night out

To the editor:

On Friday, my husband and I (and many more Douglas County foster parents) were treated to a “night out” by some of the Kansas University fraternity and sorority members. Fifty of their members provided care for our children, including a movie, snacks, games, and a one-to-one ratio of members to children.

We left for our “night out” smiling at the sight of our little boy sitting at a table with four big guys to play a card game. He was feeling pretty special. The members also provided us with movie passes for the evening and a choice of select restaurant certificates for our dinner. We were feeling pretty special, too! We want to thank all of the young people who gave up their Friday night for us. Our children all had a grand time. And we enjoyed the gift of time alone to reflect and renew.
