To the editor:

I want to commend the city of Lawrence for a high quality of service from employees in the trash delivery system. This past week I have seen everything imaginable at the curb in my neighborhood. Within two or three days I have found that all the accumulated discards have disappeared due to this city service. Since I also have two “twenty-something” children moving goods in and out of my garage, I called the city to see about arranging a pick up for a queen-sized mattress and box springs. They said to put it at the curb on my normal day of service and they would pick it up. Sure enough, like magic it disappeared. Thanks so much for performing such heavy, hot work during a time of year that already has so much activity for its citizens.
