Born on September 23, 1946, in Russellville, Arkansas, Sharon grew up in Kansas and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1964. A vibrant spirit who loved life's simple pleasures, Sharon was happiest when spending time with friends and family, traveling, and, in her later years, snuggled up with her cat, Maggie.

Sharon's memory will forever be cherished by her beloved spouse of over 25 years, Phil Merritt of Baldwin City, KS; her daughter, granddaughters, and many great-grandchildren in Chillicothe, MO; as well as her grandchildren in Lawrence and Baldwin City, KS. She was deeply touched by her lifelong friendships. Sharon carried an enduring love in her heart for all of her family, keeping them close in her thoughts until the end.
Her family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Huerter and his staff, who brought so much joy, comfort, and warmth to Sharon throughout her medical journey over the years. Deep appreciation is also extended to the ER, ICU, and nursing staff at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care.
Those who loved Sharon will forever treasure the moments, laughter, and warmth she shared. Per her wishes, small, intimate services honoring her will be held individually between family and friends.
