Chris Brown
Christopher Bowen Brown was born at Lawrence Memorial Hospital on January 12, 1982. He passed from earth on November 26, 2025 during a Caribbean vacation in Tobago. In his nearly 44 years, he lifted countless spirits and built enriching friendships. Chris had a joyful exuberance and absolute zest for life. Time with him was guaranteed to be filled with smiles and laughter. He was generous, thoughtful, and he loved his people well. Chris lived a full life in half the time.
Through the years, he kept his parents on their toes and filled them with pride. Chris graduated from Baldwin High School and from KU with a degree in economics. In his early years in Lawrence, he worked in landscaping and hospitality, serving drinks and captivating those around him. He found a special connection in working with horses near Eudora and at Camp Cheley in Colorado. In 2010, Chris moved to Denver for new adventures. He was a talented ski instructor at Keystone and bartended in downtown Denver, developing many lasting friendships.
Chris became a father in December 2014. His son, Henry is his proudest legacy. Chris moved to Summit County and began his career as a finish carpenter and business owner. He launched Summit Interior Contracting in 2018. The business flourished on the foundation of his incredible craftsmanship and infectious connections with people and community. Henry was Chris's steady sidekick – on the ski slopes and other mountain adventures. At work, Chris proudly shared ‘Henry is my #1 at the job site.’
Chris's home in Heeney, CO was ‘the center of town’ where you could always find a warm welcome, a campfire, drinks and belly laughs. Chris met his true love, Elli Peck, in 2024. They were the fire in one another's lives. In addition to Henry and Elli, Chris is survived by mother Rae Ann Brown in Lawrence, father Craig Brown and Jodie in Eagle Rock, MO, sister Kelly Evans and family in Fort Collins – Travis and nephews Jackson and Walker, Henry's mom, Hilary Cobb in Montrose, and an enviable list of dear friends who are family. Our love survives.
A celebration of life will be hosted in Heeney, CO and online on June 27, 2026 at 2pm MST. For more information and a link to support Henry's future, visit www.mykeeper.com/ChrisBrown1.
