Richard Knabe

Richard Lavern Knabe, born at Lawrence Memorial Hospital on February the 23rd, 1939 to parents; Herbert LeRoy Knabe and Sarah Blanche Votaw Knabe. Graduated from Eudora High School in 1957, RG LeTourneau College in 1959 as an engineering diesel mechanic, and finally Friends University in 1961 with a bachelor's in science of agriculture.

Married to Linda Jean Cox Knabe on January 22nd, 1961. They had 2 children, Karla Jean Knabe Osborn and Keith Edward Knabe. Richard and Linda were true partners in farming for 65 years.

Richard belonged to the Eudora Historical Society and shared his love of antique farming at Hopewell Historical Farm for over 15 years. He also collected Allis Chalmer tractors and often attended the Gathering of the Orange all over the U.S. and Canada. A member of Farm Bureau, Richard also delivered meals on wheels for over 15 years to the Eudora community.

Richard is proceeded in death by his mother Sarah, father Herbert, son Keith, and sister Twila. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Linda, his daughter Karla Jean (Allen) Osborn, his grandchildren, Andrew James (Sara) Osborn, William Allen Osborn, and Audrey Lynne (Joseph) McFeeters. His great-grandchildren James Oliver Osborn and Wesley Lyle Osborn.

To honor Richard's wishes, no public funeral services will be held, but a private cremation and burial service will be held for close family members at a later date at Prairie Center Cemetery in Eudora.

The family would like to thank Elara Care and Douglas County VNA service for their care and services to Richard in his last months of life. In leu of a public funeral, a memorial may be sent to Douglas County VNA in care of Bruce's Funeral Home in Gardner, KS
