Allan Ott

Allan Ott, 81, of Eudora, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026. He was born on July 16, 1944 to Arden and Astrid Ott, and grew up on the family farm. Allan graduated from Eudora High School in 1962.

Allan married Barbara Gardner, the love of his life, on February 19, 1967, and together built a home with their three daughters, Tammy, Cheryl, and Kari. Allan honed his adeptness for welding and ingenuity into a business that would span 50 years – Allan Ott Welding, Inc. His knack and precision for fixing the unfixable, engineering answers when faced with complex problems, and genuinely serving his customers no matter the hour of day, led to a statewide, decades-long customer base built on trust.

Allan put his hope in Christ, and was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Lawrence, Kansas.

Allan will be remembered for his smile, distinct contagious laugh, compassion, and knowing someone no matter where he was. Not only did he serve his family by working countless hours to make ends meet, but he desired and challenged his daughters to pursue their post-secondary goals and believe in their potential. Allan was actively involved in his church and community, teaching high school Sunday school, leading several mission trips to build public water infrastructure in Haiti, and donating hours of labor to repair wheelchairs for those in need.

He was an avid pilot, and cherished flying and maintaining his Cessna Cardinal. He will be remembered for owning (and being willing to loan) every single possible tool known to man, being a jack of all trades, and listening undeterred to 61 Country and Paul Harvey at the noon hour.

Allan is survived by his wife of 59 years, Barbara Ott; his children Tammy (Craig) Bruce, Cheryl (Pete) Howell, and Kari (Seth) Heide; six grandchildren, Caleb Bruce, JT Howell, Lexi (Thomas) Young, Wrigley Heide, Chloe Heide, and Ava Heide, and his brother Larry Ott of Arizona.

At his request, a private graveside service for family will be held at the DeSoto Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Allan Ott Memorial Scholarship that will benefit local students pursuing a career in welding. Contributions for the scholarship fund can be sent in care of Cedar Crest Memorial Chapel, 32665 Lexington Ave, De Soto, KS 66018.
