Frank Black

Frank Ronald Black, a native Kansan, died peacefully on August 21, 2025, in Littleton, Colorado at age 90, after a long battle with dementia. He was born on May 29, 1935, in Topeka, Kansas to Margaret and Charles Black and moved to Lawrence where he met his future bride, Ginger, in the second grade at Cordley Grade School. Frank was an All-American football player at Liberty Memorial High School and received Lawrence Journal World, football, and ROTC scholarships to attend the University of Kansas. Frank and Ginger were married in 1956 while both were students at the University of Kansas and within four years, had three sons: Allen, Mark and Doug.
Upon graduation, Frank entered the Marines, where he attained the rank of Captain and attended Ranger School. He served his country proudly for three years, then embarked on a career in sales that took him to cities throughout the Midwest. In 1972, he moved his family to Littleton, Colorado and became a real estate agent.
Throughout his life, Frank was an avid fan of the Jayhawks and Denver Broncos. He also enjoyed stamp collecting, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, and going to the mountains. He and Ginger were members of the Rockland Community Church in Golden, Colorado for 45 years.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of almost 70 years, Virginia (Ginger) Moomau Black; son Allen Black of Driggs, Idaho; son and daughter-in-law Mark and Laura Black of Bennett, Colorado; five grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Their second son, Michael Douglas Black, passed away in 1979. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Charlie, Cara, Bob, Jim, and Margaret Ann.
Frank will be greatly missed by his loving family and friends. Services will be held on October 17, 2025, at 2:00 pm at the Rockland Community Church, 17 South Mt Vernon Country Club Road, Golden, CO. 80439. Please send memorials to Rockland Community Church.
