Barbara Bryans
Barbara Ruth Bryans, 88, passed away on November. 10, 2025 at her home. Born on Jan. 19, 1937 in Lawrence KS, her family moved to a farm near Vinland, KS. She graduated from High School in Baldwin City, KS. She married her husband Dale Bryans on Feb. 19, 1956 while he was stationed at Forbs Air Force Base in Topeka, KS and remained married for over 69 years. They were stationed in Louisiana and Texas in the 60's, coming home to Lawrence when Dale went to Vietnam and Thailand. They stayed in Lawrence after Dale's military retirement.
Barbara worked in banking in Lawrence for 27 years, starting as a teller and ending as a Vice President. After retiring from banking, she worked at Owens Flower shop before moving to Topeka KS in 2001. She soon went back to work as Secretary for Sen. Vicki Schmidt until her final retirement at age 80. They moved to Lawrence into assisted living in 2021 due to health issues.
Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, George and Vivian Craig, sister Shirley Craig, brothers Robert Craig and Gary Craig. She is survived by her husband Dale of the home, children Debra Marshall (Eric), Randall Bryans, Connie Kaehn, 5 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild. She is also survived by 3 brothers, Carl Craig (Susie), Ron Craig (Helen), and Richard Craig (Sandy) and many nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday November 19, 2025 at 10:00 a.m. at Warren-McElwain 120 W 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044. A Graveside is to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. Donations may be made to The American Cancer Society as she was a two-time cancer survivor and can be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
