Sally Nixon

It is with sad hearts that we announce the passing of Sally Ann Nixon who died peacefully on May 29, 2025, at the age of 79. A Celebration of Life Reception will be held from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm on Saturday, June 14, at the Cozine Life Events Center in Wichita, KS. Remarks will take place at 2:30 pm.
Sally was born in Wichita, KS on June 22,1945. She attended Mt. Carmel Academy in Wichita, and then Oklahoma University where she was a Kappa Alpha Theta until she met her husband Ned Nixon Sr and began her own birthing parade of 4 kids in 5 years!
She was instrumental in starting the Wichita Ronald McDonald House which has helped house countless families while their children received medical care and was an active volunteer for Blessed Sacrament Grade School and any organization where her children were involved. She opened her own business, called Discoveries; moved to New Mexico, attended the births of her grandchildren and ended up in Lawrence, KS where she was the housemother for the Sigma Nu fraternity at the University of Kansas for many years.
She survived malignant melanoma for 50 years and we would like to specifically send our love and thanks to Dr. Matthew Stein, her oncologist from Lawrence who has been a steadfast friend and caregiver of Sally for many years. Sally thought the world of him and would want him to know how much his care and kindness meant to her.
She is survived by her four children: Ned (Kathleen), Tom (Katie), Keely (Trever) Patton, and Kelsy (Chuck) Schimmel; her 10 grandchildren: Reed, Colleen, Emma, Annie, Jake, Ellie, Jack, Ryan, Patrick and Blake; her 2 great-grandchildren: Michael and Grayson. Sally is also survived by her siblings: Tom Sinclair, Paula (Bob) Allen, Jack (Terry) Sinclair, and Trice Young, along with a host of family and friends who have all been touched by her infinite kindness, empathy and quirky humor.
She is preceded in passing by her parents, Tom (Po) and Pat Sinclair, and her nephew, Jason, and sister-in-law, Kathy Fisher.
In lieu of flowers, we ask that you give donations to the Ronald McDonald House of Wichita, 551 N. Hillside St #100, Wichita, KS 67214.
