Larry Thompson
Larry Wayne Thompson, 57, of Lawrence, Kansas, passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus on January 19, 2025. Larry was born on February 13, 1967, in Greensburg, Kansas, to Wayne W. Thompson and Elizabeth F. (Knapp) Thompson. He grew up alongside his sisters, Shirley, Karen, and Linda. After graduating from Mullinville High School, Larry attended Fort Hays State University.
On May 5, 1990, Larry married the love of his life, Tricia (Watters) Thompson, in Mullinville, Kansas. Together, they were blessed with two children: daughter Brooke and son Cody. They raised their family in Dodge City, Kansas, where Larry worked at Murphy Tractor Company. After seventeen years, they made the move to Lawrence, Kansas, where Larry later became the Territory Manager for Ritchie Brothers Company. Throughout their 35 years of marriage, Larry and Tricia built a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories.
Larry was a kind and generous man, known for his warm heart and his ability to make those around him feel valued and loved. His laughter was contagious, and his presence brought comfort to everyone he encountered. Larry had a deep appreciation for the outdoors, enjoying hunting, fishing, golfing, grilling delicious BBQ, and sharing a cold drink with friends and family. But his greatest love was always his family. His devotion to them was unmatched, and he cherished every moment spent together. His memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew him, and his legacy of love, kindness, and strength will never be forgotten.
Larry was preceded in death by his parents, Wayne and Elizabeth, and his sister and brother-in-law, Shirley and Roy Hargadine. Larry is survived by his beloved wife, Tricia, of the home; daughter Brooke D. Thompson and fiancé Aaron Patrzykont of Kansas City, Missouri; son Cody W. Thompson of Lawrence, Kansas; and sisters Karen Fravel and Linda Kendall. He leaves behind nieces, nephews, cousins and countless friends who will miss him dearly.
