John Haase

John Robert Haase, lovingly known as ‘Moose,’ passed away at the age of 78 on January 3, 2025, in Lawrence, Kansas. Strong in both stature and mind, he was a man whose presence brought abundant kindness, boundless humor, and remarkable wisdom to all who knew him.

John's creativity and dedication were legendary-especially when it came to science projects. If you asked for his help, you could count on him taking the reins and working tirelessly until his vision was complete. And, with a twinkle in his eye, he would remind you of his hard work for years to come.

He is survived by his best friend and beloved wife, Lyn Chance. He was a devoted father to Devon (Tony) Kim and Wyatt (Ann) Haase, and a cherished ‘Grandpapa’ to Jonah Kim, Josie Kim, and Sawyer Haase.

John lived a life full of love, laughter, and cherished memories. Those who knew him can only imagine he is now taking a long walk with his dog, Corky-rescuing more animals, stirring up some ‘good trouble,’ and reminding us all to drive safely.
