Phyllis Chambliss

Phyllis Floyd Chambliss, formerly of Lawrence, passed away peacefully in Paris, TX, on May 13, 2024. Phyllis, her husband Bob, and her family moved to Lawrence in 1960 with the opening of Hallmark Lawrence. During the '60s and '70s, she raised her family while serving as a Business Manager at the KU School of Religion. Those endeavors provided her great joy.

Phyllis was born in Bellefontaine, OH, on August 9, 1929. She was the daughter of Earl and Lena Wasson and had one sibling, Kenneth Roger, who now resides in Largo, Florida. Phyllis attended high schools in Muncie, Indiana, and Kansas City, Mo. Afterwards, she attended Ball State and Texas Christian University, where she graduated in 1951.

Upon graduating from college, she married Bob Floyd, and together, they raised four children: Barbara Nottingham (Clearwater, FL), Robert Jr. (Seminole, FL), Debbie Balise (Georgetown, TX), and Gina Bates (Flint, TX).

In later years, Phyllis moved to Clearwater, Florida, where she loved her life on the water. Her passions included family, bridge, and tennis, which she enjoyed to the max!

Surviving descendants, in addition to the above, include sons-in-law Paul Balise (Debbie) and Brian Bates (Gina) and daughter-in-law Kim Floyd (Robert), nine grandkids, and eleven great-grandchildren.

Phyllis has chosen cremation, and the family plans to have a Life Celebration when it's convenient for the family to gather.
