Charles Bowen
Graveside services for Charles Harold Bowen, 82, Perry KS, will be held on Tuesday, August 13th at 10:00 a.m. at Memorial Park Cemetery in Lawrence. A visitation will take place on Monday, August 12th from 6 to 8 p.m. at Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W 13th Street, Lawrence, KS. Charles passed away on Sunday, August 4th, 2024, at his home after a courageous battle with cancer.
Charles was born on February 26th, 1942, in Lawrence, KS, the son of Charles Ruben and Marjorie Faye (Christian) Bowen.
He was the owner of Bowen Ditching Services operating in Lawrence for 50 years. The 1961 graduate of Lawrence High School took great pride in the Chesty Lions football program where he was a Football All-American in 1960. Charlie enjoyed time on his farm raising cattle and horses and spending time with his family.
Charlie was married to Joyce Husted on December 13th, 1964, in Lawrence. She survives of the home.
Other survivors include sons; Chad Bowen (Lyndee) of Perry, Charley Bowen, of Perry and Clint Bowen (Kristie), of Lawrence. Sister; Marjorie Bowen, of Lawrence. 8 Grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Charlie was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Lois Johnson, of Lawrence and Linda Hudson, of Lawrence.
Memorial contributions may be made in Charles name to Jefferson County Hospice or the Lawrence Humane Society and may be sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary, 120 W. 13th Street, Lawrence, KS 66044.
