Seth Alford
Seth Austin Alford, age 38, of Lawrence, Kansas passed on November 20th, 2023 after a year and a half of trials and tribulations associated with a December 2022 diagnosis of Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile Duct Cancer).
He was born on July 9th, 1985, in Manhattan, Kansas to Ron and Jackie Alford. Seth's family moved to Lawrence, Kansas where he graduated from Free State High School in 2003. He went on to graduate from the University of Kansas with his Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) in 2009 and later obtained a Master of Business Administration degree from Baker University in 2017.
Seth worked for many years in the Topeka area healthcare systems: Stormont Vail Hospital as an Emergency and Trauma Clinical Pharmacy Specialist, Kansas Rehabilitation Hospital as a Director of Pharmacy, and most recently at The University of Kansas Health System St. Francis Campus as the Clinical Manager and Pharmacy Resident Director. He was particularly committed to mentoring the next generation of pharmacists and led the initiative to start the Pharmacy Residency program at St. Francis.
Seth met his wife, Haley Bowlin, while working together in healthcare. They were married October 9th , 2015 and loved four children together: Beckett Alford, Greer Alford, Porter Dannevik, and Reese Dannevik.
Seth was known for his dry wit and sense of humor. He loved spending time with his family at children's sporting activities, traveling for new adventures, grilling and smoking meats, baking the most delicious desserts, and learning about the process of growing hops and brewing beer to share with family and friends. Seth was also a lifelong Royals fan and season ticket holder for many years; his love for collecting Royals memorabilia was, shall we say, immense.
Seth is survived by his wife, Haley, and their four children, Beckett, Greer, Porter, and Reese. He is also survived by his parents, Ron and Jackie; two sisters, Billye (Jory) Lee and Haven (Frank) Cassidy; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, sister and brothers-in-law, nieces, and nephews. The family will host a Celebration of Life at a later date.
