Paula Courtney

Paula Courtney, 72, was born in Bartlesville, Oklahoma on November 17, 1950 to parents Donald and Phyllis Courtney. She passed away in her home in Lawrence after a long illness, on Monday 15, 2023. She was surrounded by her loved ones.

Throughout her life, Paula enjoyed lake trips, horses, antiques, volunteering, gardening, and her many cats and dogs over the years. She was a voracious reader of all types of books and passed this love down to her daughters, Kelli and Jill. Paula attended the University of Kansas and received her Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration from there. She also worked at the University of Kansas for 37 years and was the Director of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences Digital Media Services. She loved the KU Jayhawks and was proud to live in Lawrence for the last 28 years of her life.

Paula was preceded in death by her wonderful son-in-law, Manoj George. She is survived by her two sisters, Dee Bahr (Al), Leavenworth, KS and Terry Crumbaugh, Overland Park, KS and one brother, Lance Courtney (Maureen), Florence, Oregon. She is also survived by her two daughters, Kelli George, Olathe, Kansas and Jill Rogers (Gary), Tonganoxie, Kansas.

Paula loved her grandchildren, Arun, Anjali, Brendan, Nolan, Alaina, and Natalie with all of her heart. She was also crazy about her nephews Micah and Chad and her niece, Nicole. She was a wonderful friend to all who knew her and will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life will take place on Saturday, June 24 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. at the White Schoolhouse at 1510 N. Third Street in Lawrence. Donations in her memory can be made to The Lawrence Humane Society and the Senior Resource Center for Douglas County.
