Matthew Kappelman

Matthew Kappelman, 58, was born December 14, 1964 in Lawrence, Kansas and passed away June 30, 2023. A lifelong resident of the City, Matt was a graduate of Lawrence High School and studied Fine Arts at the University of Kansas.

Matt was kind and generous, a gentle soul with a passion for traveling, listening to music, and attending concerts. He was an avid artist (glass blowing in particular), a true gourmand, and a sports fanatic. He loved his Kansas Jayhawks and Kansas City Chiefs!

Matt was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Elizabeth (Betty) Kappelman, and brother Mark. He is survived by his sister Melanie of Westwood Hills, KS, niece Carlisle (Carlie) Elizabeth Steer and her fiancé Kevin Klahr of Buenos Aires, Argentina; his extended family, and his beloved dog Tapper. Matt will be lovingly remembered and greatly missed.

The family will receive friends at a Celebration of Life on Sunday, July 30th at The Cider Gallery, 810 Pennsylvania Street, Lawrence, Kansas 66044 from 2:00pm to 5:00pm.
