JoAnne Sigler
JoAnne Mae Sigler, age 89, of Olathe, Kansas, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on July 7th at Promise Hospital in Overland Park, Kansas. She was born in Barrington, Illinois to George and Joanna Kloepfer on April 28, 1933 and spent her childhood in Pensacola, Florida where she learned the important skills of swimming, catching crabs on the beach, and swinging alligators by the tail. She moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico after high school and went to nursing school where she earned her LPN degree. It was at her graduation party from nursing school where she met Jim Sigler who just returned from service with the Air Force. They married on January 4th, 1954. She is survived by four sons, Chris (Shagane), Shawnee, Jeff (Suzi), Lawrence, James (Rachel), Overland Park and Jerry (Ruth), Spring Hill. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Melissa, Andrew, Monica, Abbey, Michael, Katie, Olivia, and Sophia and two siblings Lynn Seaman (Jack) and Neal Kloepfer of Albuquerque, NM. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Jim, and brothers George and Carter.
JoAnne, also known as Jody to her friends and Nanny to her grandchildren, spent most of her life as a mom and homemaker. She did return to the nursing profession and worked for many years at Humana Hospital in Overland Park. She loved to swim, garden, make puzzles, and bowl. She also enjoyed collecting dolls, antiques, Hallmark ornaments and quilts. After raising 4 boys, she was excited her first grandchild was a girl and she ended up having a total of 6 granddaughters and two grandsons. For the past few years, she delighted in having her three youngest granddaughters over to her house every week for donuts and Nanny time.
