William Gremminger

William H. Gremminger, 87, of Ottawa, KS, passed away at his home on Tuesday, January 18, 2022.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Dengel & Son Mortuary, Ottawa.

Mr. Gremminger will lie in state from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, January 21, 2022, at the mortuary.

Interment Hope Cemetery, Ottawa.

Bill was born January 3, 1935, in Waverly, KS, the son of John M. and Alberta L. (Zickafoose) Gremminger.

He lived in Ottawa from 1976 to 2007, moving to Lawrence, KS where he lived for the last 14 years.

He graduated from Waverly High School with the Class of 1953.

Bill served 20 years in the United States Navy retiring May 1976 as an airplane technician. He attained the rank of Petty Officer 1st class.

On October 19, 1964, Bill was united in marriage to Nadine Mauck in Miami, OK. She preceded him in death on May 6, 2004. He was united in marriage to Mary Jacob November 10, 2007, in Lawrence, KS. She survives of the home.

Bill was employed at Ottawa Truck from 1976 to the mid-1980's; he owned and operated the Ottawa Flea Market at 1st & Walnut from the mid-1980's to 1995; and was a driver for USD 290 from the mid to late 1990's.

He was a member of Bible Baptist Church, Ottawa. Bill was attending the 360 Church in Lawrence.

Bill always enjoyed being with his family and grandchildren. He enjoyed dancing, watching ball games and golf, was an avid KU, Chiefs and Royals fan. One of his favorite things was buying and selling – anything and everything.

He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife Nadine; brother John M. Gremminger, Jr. and granddaughter Melissa Garrett.

Survivors include his wife Mary of the home; eight children, Glenda Gorsline of Olathe, Patti Pate (Joel) of Asheville, NC, Janet Clauser of Shawnee, KS, Cheryl Roth (JD) of Ottawa, William J. Gremminger (Kim) of Springfield, MO, David Swisher (Diana) of LeCompton, KS, Dala Zinober of Palm Harbor, FL, and Darryl Swisher of Alba, MO; twenty-three grandchildren and seventeen great grandchildren.
