Dora Ikenberry

Dora Ann Ikenberry, 86, of Baldwin City, KS died Sunday, April 4, 2021 in Baldwin City, Kansas.

She was born November 14, 1934 in Kansas City, Missouri the daughter of John Boyer and Thelma ‘Lucille’ Reed. When she was 14, she moved, with her family, to Baldwin City and later graduated from Baldwin High School with the class 1953.

On December 18, 1953, Dora Ann was united in marriage to Clifford Jesse Ikenberry at Ives Chapel United Methodist Church in Baldwin City, Kansas.

From 1953 to 1955, before she had kids, she was a telephone operator for Baldwin City. As a mother she was a Cub Scout den mother and a Girl Scout leader. She then worked as a cook for the Baldwin Junior High School and Elementary School from 1972 to 1993. A job she truly loved.

She loved being with her family and especially loved attending their sporting events and other things they participated in. She was active in her husband's hobbies, and loved being with him. She shared her strong Christian faith and love of games with her children and grandchildren. She enjoyed crocheting, Christian music, decorating for holidays and Western movies. She was an active member of Ives Chapel United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women and sang in the church choir.

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Boyer and Thelma ‘Lucille’ Reed; her husband, Clifford Ikenberry; three sisters, Ruthie Boles, Peggy Crossland, and Gloria Cowles; a brother, Paul Reed; and a granddaughter, Christen Gastelum.

She is survived by four sons, Eric Ikenberry and his wife Patty of Dakota Dunes, SD, Tony Ikenberry and his wife Shopna of Baldwin City, KS, Gregg Ikenberry and his wife Kim of Olathe, KS, and Scott Ikenberry and his wife Kim of Baldwin City, KS; three daughters, Janet Ikenberry of Lawrence, KS, Linda Gastelum of Baldwin City, KS, and Nancy Ikenberry of Topeka, KS; three brothers, David Reed and his wife Donna of Baldwin City, KS, Raymond Reed of Baldwin City, KS, and Stamey Boles of Spokane, WA; a sister, Juanita Murdoch of Eudora, KS; 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday April 19, 2021 at Ives Chapel UnitedMethodist Church, Baldwin City, KS. To celebrate Dora's life, a visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday, April 18, 2021 at Lamb-Roberts-Price Funeral Home, 712 Ninth St, Baldwin City, KS 66006.
