Arthur & Ruby Dewey

Arthur Dwight Dewey, 84, passed away on July 19, 2017 at Comfort House Hospice in McAllen, Texas. Born to Orville and LeVeda Dewey on March 7, 1933, Art grew up in Perry, Kansas. He graduated from Perry High School in 1951. Upon graduating, he enlisted in the Army and later worked for Santa Fe Railroad until the opening of Coop/Farmland Industries. He worked for Farmland in Lawrence for 44 years before retiring in 1998. Art’s favorite sport was bowling and he participated in several leagues in Lawrence, Kansas, then Edinburg, Texas. He continued to bowl with the senior league in Edinburg until the age of 83. He is preceded in death by his sister, Orvillene “Corky” Fowler, twin brother Archie, and brother Tommy.
Ruby Faye (Fulks) Dewey, 76, passed away February 7, 2017 in McAllen, Texas. Born to Julia and Clarence Downey Fulks on March 2, 1940, she was the youngest of seven siblings. Ruby lived in Des Arc, Arkansas during her early childhood with her family until moving to Eudora, Kansas and later Sunflower Village, where she completed school. As a teenager, Ruby loved to roller skate. It was during this time where she met her husband to be. She found great pleasure from cooking, loved feeding family and friends, and was well known by all as a great cook. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Estes, Jim, Bill and E.L. Fulks. Art and Ruby were married on May 4, 1957 in Eudora, Kansas. During these 59 years of marriage, they lived in Lawrence and Eudora until retiring to Edinburg, Texas. Art and Ruby are survived by sons, Kenneth, of Eudora, Kansas and Jaimie (Janet) of Dearborn, Missouri. Ruby is also survived by a sister, Laverne Graves and a brother, Bobby Fulks both of Baldwin, Kansas; as well as as several nieces and nephews. Graveside services are scheduled for Saturday, June 2, 2018 at 10:30 a.m. Oak Ridge Cemetery in Perry, Kansas.
