Roy K. Cropp

Celebration of life services for Roy K. Cropp, 87, Lawrence, will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, September 14, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church in Lawrence, KS. A reception will follow from 2-4 p.m. in Brady Hall at the church. Private inurnment will be at Oak Hill Cemetery. He died Saturday, July 20, 2013, in Lawrence.
Roy was born October 7, 1925, on a farm in Reading, KS, the son of Cason M. and Maude Alice (Dodd) Cropp, where his love of farming and agriculture began.
He served his country in the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in October, 1945. He entered the service with his twin brother.
He retired in 1990 from USD 497. He loved Lawrence High and enjoyed seeing former students over the years. He was also a long time administrator of the Lawrence Educator’s Credit Union which provided invaluable assistance to many teachers.
Roy married Wilma Jean Cramer on November 25, 1945, in Reading, KS. She preceded him in death on December 30, 2010 after 65 years of marriage. They had four children, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
The family suggests memorials in his name to the First United Methodist Church, Dorsey-Liberty Post #14 of the American Legion, or the Lawrence Schools Foundation, which may be sent in care of the mortuary.
