Frederick William Jaedicke, Jr.

Frederick William Jaedicke, Jr., 87, passed away on October 15, 2011 in Wichita Falls, Texas.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday May 11, 2012, at Highland Cemetery in Ottawa, Kansas.
Fred was born October 9, 1924 in Lawrence, Kansas to Fred, Sr. and Nell (Nissen) Jaedicke. He was the fourth generation of his family to live in Lawrence. He grew up in Lawrence and entered the University of Kansas in 1942. He left KU to serve in the Army Air Corp during World War II. After the war he returned to earning a degree in economics. During this time he met and married Mildred Snyder of Ottawa, Kansas. They were one of five couples married in Danforth Chapel on the KU campus on August 29, 1948.
Fred began his career in the oil business as a scout for the Magnolia Petroleum Company in Jackson, Mississippi. He and Mildred moved to Wichita Falls in 1950 where he worked for Lion Oil Company, G.E. Kadane & Sons and as an independent landman. He served as President of the Wichita Falls Landman’s Association in 1966-67.
Fred took up tennis with his children and played weekly into his eighties. He was an avid reader and an expert on Texas geography and ranching. He took special interest and joy in his two grandchildren. Fred always treasured his hometown of Lawrence and the special friends and memories of his youth.
Fred was preceded in death by his brother John Jaedicke. He was survived by his wife Mildred who passed away on February 27, 2012. He is survived by his sister Catherine Allen of Overland Park; his son Carl and wife Shelby of College Station, TX; his daughter Ann Jaedicke and husband Bob Sihler of Travelers Rest, SC; granddaughter Elizabeth Jaedicke and husband Dusan Koljensic of Arlington Center, MA; grandson Joshua Jaedicke of Studio City, CA; and great grandson Ethan Koljensic of Arlington Center.
Arrangements for the graveside service are under the direction of Lamb-Roberts Funeral Home in Ottawa.
