Minnie Mae Stephenson

Funeral services for Minnie Mae Stephenson, 84, Lawrence, will be 10 a.m. Monday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary. Burial will take place at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Bokchito Cemetery in Bokchito, Okla.
Mrs. Stephenson died Thursday. March 4, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Aug. 27, 1925, in Poteau, Okla., the daughter of James Franklin and Millie Myers Roberson.
She worked as a registered nurse in Fredrick and Durant, Okla. She was a teacher’s aide in Fox, Okla. She was employed at the Ballard Community Center in the day care center where she retired in March 1996. She was a member of the United Indian Methodist Church. She also attended Cornerstone Baptist Church.
She married Robert Samuel “Bob” Stephenson on Aug. 28, 1946, in Sherman, Texas. He died Feb. 6, 1978.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Larry W. Stephenson, on April 9, 1996, and a sister, Ora Lee Humphrey.
Survivors include a daughter, Francis Ann Stephenson, Lawrence; a daughter-in-law, Kathleen Stephenson, Duncan, Okla.; two grandsons, Mike and Scott Stephenson; and two great-grandchildren, Hayden and Mikayla.
The family suggests memorials to the Special Olympics, sent in care of the mortuary, 120 W. 13th St., Lawrence, KS 66044.
