Juanita E. Shively

Juanita E. “Nita” Shively, 82, of Lawrence, formerly of Topeka, passed away Sunday, February 21, 2010.
She was born October 28, 1927 in St. Paul, MN, the daughter of John and Anne (Liepke) Hansen.
She retired as a secretary from the Kansas Legislature.  
She was a member of Corpus Christi Catholic Church, Lawrence and an honorary member of the St. Benedict’s Circle of the Altar Society of Mater Dei Catholic Church, Topeka.
Juanita married Dr. Medford H. Shively, Ph.D., on November 12, 1949 in Denver, CO. He survives. Other survivors include six children, Cathleen Shively, Christine Shively, Barbara Thompson, Cynthia (Joe) Laframboise, Steve Shively and Theresa Shively-Porter; two grandchildren, Nigel Thompson and Alex Porter; a great-granddaughter and many nieces and nephews.
Honoring her request, cremation has taken place. A rosary will be recited at 6 p.m. Tuesday, February 23, 2010 at Mater Dei Catholic Parish, Holy Name Church, 934 SW Clay, Topeka. The family will receive friends following the rosary.  A memorial Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 24, 2010 at the church. Private inurnment will be at a later date.
