Evelyn Lorretta Kimball

Funeral services for Evelyn Loretta Kimball, 93, Lawrence, will be at 11 a.m. Friday at First Regular Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will be at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence.
Mrs. Kimball died Sunday, Aug. 22, 2010, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
She was born Feb. 10, 1917, in Streator, Ill., the daughter of Moses and Ada Washington Walker.
Growing up, Mrs. Kimball attended school in the Lawrence public school system. She worked for Rusty’s IGA for many years and retired to pursue home day care. As a home day care provider, Mrs. Kimball was known to many as “Grandma.”
She was the oldest member of First Regular Missionary Baptist Church.
She married Harold “Jackie” Kimball Sr. in Lawrence in 1935. He preceded her in death in 1976.
She was also preceded in death by a sister, Helen Simpson; three brothers, Glen Walker, Charles Walker and William Walker; two daughters, Joyce Johnson and Ellen Thompson; two sons, Herbert “Marvin” Simpson and Harold Kimball Jr.; and two grandchildren, Ryan and Sherye Green.
Survivors include three daughters, Clara Friend, Topeka, and Freida Green and Carolyn Kimball, both of Lawrence; a son, Carroll Kimball and wife Carol, Lawrence; 19 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren; and 33 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will greet friends from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary in Lawrence.
