Donald Carbaugh

Donald Carbaugh, 77, Lawrence, KS, died Monday August 9, 2010, at Pioneer Ridge Retirement Community.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday, August 13, 2010, at the Mustard Seed Fellowship, 700 Wakarusa Drive, Lawrence, KS 66049. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Thursday at the church. Burial will be at 2 p.m Friday in Hubbel Hill Cemetery, Tonganoxie.
Donald was born June 1, 1933, in Kansas City, KS, the son of Lester and Minnie Stewart Carbaugh. He graduated from Tonganoxie High School and worked in maintenance for Hallmark Cards, Lawrence, until his retirement in 1997. He married Estella “Joan” Guinn on September 28, 1952. They raised their children on a buffalo farm north of Lawrence and moved south of Lawrence in 1968. Don enjoyed many interests. He was often found fixing equipment and motors for others. He was known for his generous spirit, love of nature and sense of humor. He was a member of the Square Delights Square Dance Club, Lawrence, KS. He loved farming, camping, fishing, and hunting. He never met a stranger. In his later years, Don restored tractors and loved spending time with family and friends.
Don kept his sense of humor and love for family and friends to the very end.
Survivors include his son, Kevin Carbaugh, Cheyenne, WY; 2 daughters, Vicki Bradford, Madison, WI, and Donna Baker, Baraboo, WI; his brother Wayne (Darlene) Carbaugh, Basehor, KS; 3 sisters, Betty (James) Elmer, Tonganoxie, KS, Mildred Crouse, Lansing, KS and Irene Taylor, Independence, MO; 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren; his dear friend and caregiver, Twila Higgins, Lawrence, KS, and her 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
