Richard A. Davenport

Graveside services with military honors for Richard A. Davenport, 69, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mr. Davenport died Friday, July 10, 2009, at Lawrence Memorial Hospital.
He was born Oct. 8, 1939, in Lawrence, the son of Harley and Mabel Robinson Davenport.
He graduated from Lawrence High School, and later served in the U.S. Army Air Corps as a medic.
Mr. Davenport owned and operated Midway USA Trash Service for 32 years. He was also a farmer, and had worked in a few local restaurants. He was a member of the Dorsey-Liberty Post 14 of the American Legion, and the Powers of the Past Tractor Club in Ottawa. He volunteered at the Lawrence Interdenominational Nutrition Kitchen, the Jubilee Café, and the Salvation Army.
He married Rhonda O’Keefe. They later divorced.
Survivors include two sons, Rick and wife Shelly, Gardner, and William “Will,” Lawrence; four daughters, Leann and husband Wayne Grammer, McLouth, Melissa Cannon, Lawrence, Erika and husband Staff Sgt. Matthew Lindstrom, Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, and Lisa Davenport-Pittman, Inman, S.C.; his mother, Mabel Nelson, Killeen, Texas; two brothers, Mike, Overland Park, and Charles, Alabama; seven grandchildren, Alan, Josh, Grayson and Calee Davenport, Ashley Grammer, Danielle Morlock and Kaytlyn Lindstrom; and a great-grandson, Trenton.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harley Davenport, in 1992, and a grandson, Damien Grammer, in 2006.
Friends may call from noon to 8 p.m. Monday at Rumsey-Yost Funeral Home, where the family will receive them from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.
