Charles Edwin Kaubin

Funeral services for Charles Edwin Kaubin, 73, Carnegie, will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Cedar Creek United Methodist Church in Carnegie. Burial will be in Cedar Creek Cemetery.
Mr. Kaubin died Wednesday, July 1, 2009, at Carnegie Tri-County Municipal Hospital.
He was born Feb. 2, 1936, in Lawton, Okla., the son of Norman and Eunice Whitebuffalo Kaubin. He graduated from Riverside Indian School in 1954 and attended Haskell Indian Junior College in Lawrence, Kan.
While at Haskell, he learned the trade of baking and worked in Kansas City, Kan., as a cake decorator. He later was head baker at the Biltmore Hotel in Oklahoma City.
Mr. Kaubin later enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps and served three tours during the Vietnam War.
He also attended the University of Utah and became a drug and alcohol counselor at Haskell.
Mr. Kaubin was a member of the Kiowa Tribe of Oklahoma, Native American Marine Corps Veterans, Disabled American Veterans, Southwest Vietnam Veterans, Ton-kon-gah Kiowa Black Leggings Society and Cedar Creek United Methodist Church.
He participated in and supported the Kiowa Gourd Clan throughout his life. He is the last grandson of Kiowa Chief Ahpeahtone and the great-grandson of Kiowa War Chief Satanta.
Mr. Kaubin married Jermaine Patricia Botone in 1983 in Carnegie. She survives.
Other survivors include four daughters, Rosela M. Wilson and husband Aaron, Shawnee, Okla., Billie Foreman and companion Steven Yosick, Anadarko, Okla., Owassa Ione Davilla, Albuquerque, N.M., and Simona B. Foreman-Watkins and husband Matthew, Anadarko; two sons, Leonard Foreman, Carnegie, and Matthew Foreman and wife Alecia, Anadarko; 22 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Kenneth “Cowboy” Foreman; three brothers, Frank, Eddie and Henley; and five sisters, Pauline Toppah, Birdie Kaubin, Elaine Kaubin, Georgia Dupoint and Pearl Woodard.
A wake service will be at 7 p.m. Sunday at Ray and Martha’s Funeral Home Chapel in Carnegie.
