Neva Mae Smythe

Funeral services for Neva Mae Smythe, 91, of Topeka and formerly of Meriden, will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Barnett-Chapel Oaks Meriden Chapel. Burial will be at Meriden Cemetery.
Mrs. Smythe died Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, at Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center.
She was born Jan. 5, 1918, in Lebo, the daughter of Ralph Ramon and Viola May Hunt Fisher.
She had lived at the Rolling Hills Assisted Living Center since 2003 after moving from Meriden, where she had lived since 1954.
Mrs. Smythe was a homemaker.
She married Joseph N. “Joe” Smythe on July 2, 1937, in Lebo. He preceded her in death Sept. 6, 1990.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Cloyce “Smiley” Smythe, and a brother, Olan Fisher.
Survivors include a son, Harlan Smythe, Salina; two daughters, Carol Kirkwood, Meriden, and Esther White, Topeka; a sister, Mary Belle Reber, Emporia; 14 grandchildren; and 22 great-grandchildren.
Friends may call after 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral chapel, where the family will meet them from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday.
