Anne Dann Compton

A memorial gathering for friends of Anne Dann Compton, 67, Boulder, Colo., will be at 3:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 18, in the chapel of Lawrence Presbyterian Manor.Ms. Compton died Saturday, Sept. 20, 2008, at Boulder Community Hospital.She was born March 13, 1941, Cleveland, the daughter of Arthur Dann and Anna Ballard “Petey” Cerf. She grew up in Lawrence and graduated from George School in Bucks County, Penn. She briefly attended Kansas University and graduated from Loretto Heights College in Denver with a bachelor of arts degree.Ms. Compton was a licensed practical nurse. She worked for Head Start in Colorado Springs and a variety of service organizations in Boulder, including the Boulder Methadone Clinic, Boulder Rape Crisis Team and Boulder Hospice. She also served as volunteer coordinator for Avista Hospice. She was also a supporter of Kansas Advocates for Better Care, an organization founded by her mother.She married Allen Compton. They divorced.Survivors include a son, John Travis Compton, New York City; a brother, William Dann, Lawrence; a sister, Elizabeth Dann Jones, Westport, N.Y.; five half-brothers, Charles Cerf, Washington, D.C., and Bob, John, Tom and Jim Dann; two half-sisters, Pauline Cerf Alexander, Chester, N.J., and Louise Dann Standish; and many nieces, nephews, godchildren and honorary grandchildren.The family suggests memorials to Kansas Advocates for Better Care, 913 Tennessee St., No. 2, Lawrence, KS 66044.
