Cletis H. Converse

Memorial services for Cletis H. Converse, 81, Lawrence, will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at Warren-McElwain Mortuary.Ms. Converse died Sunday, May 18, 2008, at Kansas University Hospital.She was born Nov. 24, 1926, in Wellsville, the daughter of Edward A. and Naomi F. Van-Tries Revey.She graduated from Wellsville High School in 1945. She married Glen B. Miller. She later married Robert C. Converse.Ms. Converse worked for 22 years in handiwork, ribbon and security for Hallmark Cards and retired Aug. 15, 1994.Ms. Converse was a member of the Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. The National Library of Poetry published many of her poems. She enjoyed dancing, oil painting, gardening, sports and following the Kansas University Jayhawks.Survivors include a daughter, Debra M. Guy, Houston, and a sister, Charlene N. Statler and husband Eldon, Lawrence.She was preceded in death by a son, Ronald Eugene Miller; a sister, Corrinne H. Lawrenz; and a brother, Edward A. Revey.The family will receive friends at the Eagles Lodge following the service.The family suggests memorials to American Cancer Society or a charity of the donor’s choice, sent in care of the mortuary.
