George Ikerd

Tonganoxie — Funeral services for George Ikerd, 81, Kansas City, Kan., will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the West Haven Baptist Church in Tonganoxie. Mr. Ikerd died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at his home.He was born Oct. 29, 1927, in Gassaway, La., the son of Charlie and Margaret Williams Ikerd. He worked as a concrete finisher and was a member of Cross Roads Church in Mission.He married Shirley Bell on June 19, 1998, in Kansas City, Kan. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Robert, Kansas City, Mo.; a stepson, Manuel George, Raytown, Mo.; four stepdaughters, Mary Martin, Denver, Clara Williams and Yvonne Carter, both of Omaha, Neb., and Venita Evans, Kansas City, Kan.; and a brother, Esau Washington, Kansas City, Kan.The family will receive friends for one hour before the service time at the church.
