David James “Jim” Ramberg
Topeka – A celebration of life for David James “Jim” Ramberg, 58, Topeka, will be at 6:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at The Vinewood in Topeka.Mr. Ramberg died Wednesday, Jan. 24, 2007, at his home.He was born Oct. 28, 1948, in Minneapolis, Minn., the son of David Freeman and Joanne Anderson Ramberg. He graduated from Hannibal High School in Hannibal, Mo., and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Washburn University.Mr. Ramberg served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was a sports writer for the Topeka Capital-Journal for many years and most recently wrote a column for the Topeka Metro News.Survivors include a daughter, Moriyah Ramberg, Topeka; his mother, Dr. Joanne Ramberg, Topeka; her former wife, Nancy Nowick-Kauk, Topeka; two sisters, Linda Joler and husband Ron, and Laura Ramberg and husband Ed Scheurich, all of Lawrence; three brothers, Steven Ramberg and wife Margaret Rose, and Karl Ramberg, all of Lawrence, and Erik Ramberg and wife Karen Byrum, Batavia, Ill.; two stepbrothers, Damon Romine, Los Angeles, and Jason Romine, Topeka; two aunts, Louise Nordby, Lake Forest, Calif., and Dorothy Metzel and husband Truman, Chicago; and nieces and nephews, Jake, Alec, Ben, Jonah, Ella, Julia, Katie, Copper, Mason, Austin, Zoey, Melody and Cameron.He was preceded in death by his father and stepmother, David and Sharon Ramberg.The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Feb. 2 at The Vinewood before the celebration.
