Mary C. Grosdidier

Eudora – Graveside services for Mary C. Grosdidier, 70, Scottsdale, Ariz., will be at a later date in Holy Family Cemetery in Eudora.Miss Grosdidier died Monday, Jan. 22, 2007, after an eight-year battle with lung cancer.She was born Sept. 26, 1936, in Kansas City, Kan., the daughter of Dr. and Mrs. E. J. Grosdidier. She graduated from Ward High School in Kansas City, Kan. She received a Bachelor of Arts in English from Kansas State University and a master’s in English from Creighton University in Omaha, Neb.Miss Grosdidier taught on the Navajo Indian Reservation in Arizona. She then taught in Hawaii, California and Kansas City before returning to Arizona to teach junior high and high school English and English as a Second Language in Scottsdale. She volunteered for five years at the Indian Medical Center, eight years as chairwoman of the Foreign Language for VNSA book sale and 10 years ushering at the Scottsdale Civic Center. She enjoyed hiking, especially in Arizona, Hawaii and California. She enjoyed traveling and spent two summers in Western Europe. She led discussion groups for two book clubs for more than 25 years and enjoyed having lunch and going to movies with her friends.Survivors include two sisters, Claire Strom and husband Brock, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Teresa Duma, Huntsville, Ala.; five nephews, Brock II, David and Chris Strom, and Greg and Stefan Duma; three nieces, Leigh Strom Trunnell, Jan Duma Lewis and Zoe Duma Woods.The family suggests memorials to Hospice of the Valley, 1510 E.
