Kenneth H. Beck

Roeland Park – Memorial services for Kenneth H. Beck, 85, Roeland Park, will be at 6:30 p.m. Friday at St. Agnes Church in Roeland Park.Mr. Beck died Thursday, Feb. 1, 2007, in Roeland Park.He was born Sept. 25, 1921, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Earl and Ethel Beck. He graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1939. He attended the University of California at Berkeley and graduated with a degree in business from Kansas University in 1947. He graduated from law school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 1950.Mr. Beck served in the U.S. Navy. He joined in 1942 and was a dive bomber pilot on the USS Hornet and fought in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. He later worked as a claims attorney for Farmers Insurance and retired as a litigator for McAnany, Van Cleave and Phillips law firm.He was an active participant in the Association of Naval Aviation and traveled across the U.S. and Europe. He also was a member of the Wyandotte High School Senior’s Club and Farmers Insurance Breakfast Club of Retired Employees.He married Virginia Whelan of Sebastopol, Calif., in 1945. They were married for 61 years. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include a son, Kenneth, Studio City, Calif.; two daughters, Ginna Lindquist, Tonganoxie, and Melissa Watkins, Lawrence; and six grandchildren, David and Brian Lindquist and Elizabeth, Katy, Laura and Chris Watkins.
