Sidney Leroy Dyche
Ottawa – Services for Sidney Leroy Dyche, 74, Ottawa, will be conducted later by the family. He was cremated.Mr. Dyche died Saturday, April 7, 2007, at his home.He was born May 13, 1932, in Kansas City, Kan., the son of Charles Lawrence and Rosaleetta Perkins Dyche. He grew up and attended schools in Kansas City, Kan.Mr. Dyche served in the U.S. Army from July 27, 1950, until he was honorably discharged on Aug. 21, 1953. He was attached to the 349th T Port Company in Fort Eustis, Va. He served in the Korean War and received the Korean Service Medal with two bronze stars, United Nations Service Medal and Merit Unit Commendation. He worked various jobs such as a bricklayer, rancher and over-the-road truck driver. He retired as a factory worker at Mid-American Plastics on April 10, 2001.Mr. Dyche enjoyed auto mechanics, reading Louis L’Amour books and watching John Wayne movies.He married Leola Fern Gamble on April 28, 1957, in Kansas City, Kan. They divorced. Survivors include three sons, Charles L.R. and wife Shannon, and Scott A., both of Ottawa, and Brian H., Olathe; three daughters, Brenda Lee Swanson and husband Dennis, Antioch, Ill., Peggy Sue Watkins and husband Raymond, Salina, and Laura Lynn Todd and husband William, Lincoln, Neb.; a brother, Johnny, Fort Scott; 14 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.Mr. Dyche was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Charles, Joseph and James; and a sister, Rosie L.
