Robert Julius Brawley

A memorial service for Robert Julius Brawley, 68, Lawrence, will be at 4 p.m. Monday at the Graber Farm, 938 E. 1700 Road in Baldwin.Mr. Brawley died Friday, April 14, 2006, in Overland Park.He was born April 24, 1937, the son of Julius Augustus and Evanelle M. Rogers Brawley.Mr. Brawley earned a master’s degree in fine arts from the San Francisco Art Institute and had been a professor of art at Kansas University since 1988. He was chairman of KU’s art department for five years.His first wife, Vivian, died earlier. He married Judith Carol Cramer on Aug. 16, 1969, in San Francisco. She survives, of the home.Other survivors include two sons, Robert, Citrus Heights, Calif., and David, Sherwood, Ore.; a daughter, Elisabeth Giuliana Harris, Virginia Beach, Va.; a sister, Virginia Christensen; two brothers, Thomas and Richard; six grandchildren and a great-grandson.Memorials to the family may be sent in care of Lawrence Funeral Chapel.
