Martin Eugene Fesmire

Funeral services for Martin Eugene Fesmire, 88, Olathe, formerly of Edgerton, will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Edgerton United Methodist Church. Burial with military honors at graveside will be in Edgerton Cemetery.Mr. Fesmire died Friday, Nov. 25, 2005, at his home in Olathe.He was born Sept. 30, 1917, in Gardner, the son of Albert and Maude Lambert Fesmire.Mr. Fesmire graduated from Edgerton Rural High School in 1936. He was the maintenance supervisor at Johnson County Community College from 1970 to 1983. He also worked at Olathe Naval Base as the operator in the water and power plant from 1945 to 1969. He also owned Fesmire Plumbing and Heating from 1950 to 1969 and ran Fesmire Storage from 1965 to 2000. He served in the Navy during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He also was a volunteer firefighter in Edgerton and a member the Lions Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars in Gardner.Mr. Fesmire was a member of the Edgerton United Methodist Church.He married Minnie S. Abel on May 17, 1941, in Eudora. She survives of the home.Other survivors include a son, Clifford, Edgerton; two daughters, Sarah McTaggart, Edgerton, and Mary Violett, Olathe; a sister, Lula Rew Powell, Independence, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.The family will greet friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Bruce Funeral Home in Gardner.The family suggests memorials to the church or to the Olathe Hospice, sent in care of the funeral home, P.O.
