Journal-World’s office experiences computer network problems, creating customer service changes for the week
Significant computer network problems are impacting the operations of the Lawrence Journal-World, resulting in some customer service changes for this week.
Customers of the newspaper are asked to email or call the newspaper rather than stopping by the offices of the Journal-World. The newspaper’s offices have limited phone and internet service, and most of the staff are working remotely during the time period. Questions for the Journal-World’s news staff should be directed to news@ljworld.com; questions for the advertising staff to ads@ljworld.com and questions about subscriptions or other general matters to subs@ljworld.com.
People who need to reach the newspaper by phone can call 785-843-1000 and pick the appropriate department from the list of options.
Production of the print edition of the Journal-World is continuing. The newspaper has had to change its design process during the network outage, and readers are likely to notice a change in the general design of the paper as a result.
“I appreciate everyone’s patience and understanding,” Journal-World Editor & Publisher Chad Lawhorn said. “We take our responsibility of reporting and covering the news in Lawrence and Douglas County seriously. We have redundancies and back-up systems in place to allow us to continue publishing newspapers during this time, but the system will have its rough edges.
“We have IT professionals working to get our network systems back in normal working order, and we look forward to resuming normal operations in the coming days.”
The Journal-World’s online news site, LJWorld.com, has not been impacted by the network outage.
