Lawrence police are seeking the public’s help in identifying the driver of a pickup truck who may have witnessed a homicide near the Lawrence Community Shelter last week.

According to a post on the Lawrence Police Department’s Facebook page, the truck was near the intersection of East 25th Terrace and Franklin Road on the night of June 11, when 43-year-old Christopher Allen Lickteig died from his injuries after a reported fight. The post said that the person in the truck “may have witnessed the crime” and asked the truck’s driver or anyone with information about it to call the department at (785) 830-7430.

The truck is described as having loud exhaust, amber running lights and possibly a diesel engine, according to the post. Several photos attached to the post showed the truck, but the area is dark and further details are difficult to make out.

As the Journal-World reported, law enforcement responded to a report of two men fighting around 10:30 p.m. June 11 near East 25th Terrace and Franklin Road. Lickteig was pronounced dead at the scene after first responders arrived.

One man has been arrested in connection with the incident: 34-year-old George Luke Miller. He has since been charged with intentional second-degree murder and is being held at the Douglas County Jail on a $500,000 bond. He is next scheduled to appear in court on Thursday for a scheduling conference.

Both Miller and Lickteig were staying at the Lawrence Community Shelter at the time of the incident, police previously said in a news release.
