2020 general election results: Democrats win Douglas County Commission races; Holland set to keep legislature seat
Even before polls opened Tuesday, Douglas County residents were on track to cast a record number of ballots in the 2020 general election. Strong advance voting in the midst of the coronavirus pandemic put the county above 50% voter turnout before Election Day, and it looked as if the county might surpass its 64% turnout from the 2008 general election.
In addition to the race for president, a number of local and state races will be decided by Tuesday’s election, including two county commission seats and seats in the U.S. Senate and House of Representatives.

Several other notable local offices on the ballot, including Douglas County district attorney and sheriff, were all but decided in the August primaries. More on those unopposed races can be found in the Journal-World’s voters guide, and results for all local races can be found on the Douglas County elections website. More results from state races can be found on the Kansas secretary of state’s website.
Some ballots — such as those postmarked on Election Day — may still be counted until Friday, and all results are unofficial until the canvass on Nov. 16.
