Ottawa University students take the social media plunge

Recently, I came across Braves TV on the Ottawa University Facebook Fan Page. Braves TV is a student-run media group using social media to show the world what life is REALLY like at Ottawa University.

Braves TV consists of eight Ottawa students who were given cameras to capture the fun, and not-so-fun, moments of college life.

As an alum of Baker University, I am well aware of the miniscule budgets usually afforded student media at small, private institutions. Therefore, it is necessary to be creative with the money available and that is exactly what Ottawa University has done. Ottawa is taking social media seriously, and has created a team to support these students and further the university’s involvement in social media. It is great to see that this university understands the importance of social media and the extent to which it can benefit its students.

To meet the students involved, get a quick tour de Ottawa University and hear the exact purpose straight from the source, check out the first video produced by Braves TV.

Like what you see? Fan the Ottawa University page and check in every two weeks to see what Braves TV comes up with next. A little birdie, Ottawa University social media specialist Annie Noll, told us you can expect a LIp Dub to Journey, professor interviews and Ottawa Cribs.
