My Favorite Weekly Deals

Life with a newborn has begun to take its toll on my household….the theoretical “6 Week Baby Boot camp” is well underway as Baby Ryan turned three weeks old Friday. My own household is not doing a lot of shopping these days and I will reflect that here …I am also going to keep my deals short and sweet. Not to fear…I will highlight the best of the best as I see them in the ads…sleep or no sleep… I can’t let a super deal go unnoticed!

Today you will find three coupon inserts (P&G, Red Plum, Smart Source) in your Lawrence Journal World. Lucky us, there is an additional P&G insert this month!

The Smart Source insert has an entire 3 page section of Purina coupons. One in particular is $2/any 1 size Purina One dry dog food. You can find the small bags (3.5lbs) at Target for slightly over $4 each. Apply this coupon and you have some inexpensive dog food. There is also a B1G1 for Cans of Purina One. Chef Michael’s dog food is also a Purina brand and there is a $3/1 coupon here also…. the small bags are also around $4 at Target.

Target has a deal on Nature Valley products. Normally priced at $2.50 if you buy 3 boxes of granola bars you will get a free bag of Nut Clusters. If you haven’t tried the Nut Clusters yet, they are amazingly yummy. You can find all kinds of coupons for $1/1 Nature Valley Nut Clusters, in last week’s inserts, or you can print some HERE or HERE. You can also find $0.40/1 Nature Valley Granola Bars in last week’s insert or you can print some HERE and HERE. Combine them like this for a great deal:

Buy 3 granola bars @ $2.50/ea = $7.50

Get 1 Nut Clusters FREE

Use 3 $0.40/1 granola bar coupons = $1.20

Use 1 $1/1 Nut Clusters coupon = $1

Total= $5.30 or $1.32 each

Dillon’s is having a $5 off of 10 Mega Event through this Tuesday evening. One of the qualifying items is Green Giant frozen vegetables. Assuming you purchase 10, these will price at $1.49 each. There were $0.50/1 coupons a few weeks back that will double to $1 off. You can also print coupons for them HERE. Remember each coupon can be printed two times per computer in your home. You can purchase these frozen vegetables for $0.49/each. With a hard freeze on the books for tonight I know that our garden is DONE. I’m happy to stock up on these bags of vegetables and store them in my deep freeze….we can use them throughout the winter!

Check out the Deals at CVS this week… you can get a fairly good deal on cosmetics. Revlon has a B1G1 sale. You can use a coupon on EACH of these items…even though one of them is “free”. This will double your savings on the one you purchase. There were Revlon coupons in the paper a couple of weeks back.

Hopefully you can see some of the reasoning behind my claim that you need to clip and save coupons each week…even if the coupons you find don’t match up to your shopping list that particular week!

The awesome Skippy Peanut Butter deal at Target is still in full effect until the 24th of this month. Normal price on Skippy (Natural, Original and Low Fat) is $2.04. Pair the $0.40/1 coupon from last week’s inserts with the $1/1 Skippy Target Printable and get yourself some $0.64 peanut butter. I’ve been inspired by Julie to share a recipe with you to help you use up those cheap-o jars of peanut butter: Frosted Chews. These are my FAVORITE treat and my mom just made them for me last week:

Frosted Chews

6c. Rice Crispies

1c. light corn syrup

1c. white sugar

1c. creamy peanut butter

1c. chocolate chips

1c. butterscotch chips

Combine sugarand corn syrup in a heavy saucepan. Heat to boiling. Remove from heat, add peanut butter and mix until melted and combined. Pour over rice crispies and mix together quickly. Press into buttered 9 x 13″ pan and let cool.

Melt chocolate and butterscotch chips together and melt. Spread evenly over cooled crispy bars.

Try not to eat the whole pan at once!

A few deals to start you on your way this week….enjoy!
