I am very excited to invite all of our Lawrence/Kansas City-based Scene-Stealers readers to the first gathering of the masses. It’s a perfect amalgamation of the Halloween spirit, a charitable cause that I truly believe in (Children’s Music Fund), and everything else Scene-Stealers stands for-including partying, rad movie memorablia, trivia, and rock n’ roll!On Wednesday night October 29 at the Screenland Theater at the Crossroads(1656 Washington) in downtown Kansas City, I will summon forth from the depths of Hell (for a good cause of course)… The first 50 people in the door will win ‘admit-two’ tickets to the advance screening of Kevin Smith’s “Zack and Miri Make a Porno,” starring Seth Rogen and Elizabeth Banks.At 7:30pm, I will host a horror-movie trivia game with a sweet grand prize.There will be a raffle for a crap-ton of other cool free prizes, such as autographed poster of Rob Zombie’s “Halloween,” autographed posters of Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s “Grindhouse,” a QT “Grindhouse” action figure, “The Strangers” DVD, 2009 “Friday the 13th” remake posters, “The Dark Knight” poster, and more…I’ll have Rock Band available for groups to play along, mix and match, whatever…Did I mention the bar will be open and Scene-Stealers will be providing the food?At 8pm, we’ll watch a reel of original vintage 1980s movie trailers, which will lead into the main event: “Trick or Treat” (1986), a campy rock n’ roll backwards-masking revenge flick starring Marc Price (Skippy from “Family Ties”), with cameos from Ozzy Osbourne and Gene Simmons.A donation of $10 is suggested, and all proceeds go to the Children’s Music Fund, whose mission is to provide instruments and music therapy to children with chronic illnesses.…and here are a couple stills from the movie to get you excited![][6]See you there!
