Lawrence Police conducted right around 15 vehicle stops this morning, only one of those resulting in a OUI arrest.

Officers were also kept busy with 10 disturbances and and two noise complaints. Two arrests were recorded related to disturbances, one for battery and another for criminal trespassing. No serious injuries were reported.

Just after 4:10 a.m., Lawrence Police and Fire/Medical were called to the 1700 block of Lake Alvamar Drive for a structure fire. Police arrived on scene and reported a fire in the basement. Fire crews arrived and confirmed that all of the occupants of the house were evacuated. The fire was said to be in a basement utility room. The fire did spread to the exterior of the home and then into some landscaping material. Everything was extinguished within about 30 minutes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation and a damage estimate has not been released. More on this fire can be found here from Operation 100 News or here from the Lawrence Journal-World.

Officers located an audible alarm at a business in the 1000 block of W 23rd Street at 4:49 a.m.. Those officers reported finding an open door and requested a responsible party to respond. It was unclear whether this was a burglary or simply an alarm due to an unlocked door.

At 5:55 a.m., Fire/Medical along with the Kansas Highway Patrol responded on an injury accident on westbound Interstate 70. The accident was said to be at milepost 204, between the east Lawrence exit and the Leavenworth county line. One person was transported from that scene, their injuries were not believed to be serious.
