March 17th Early Morning Law Enforcement & Fire/Medical wrap up

Shortly after 1:30 a.m., Lawrence Police received reports of a shooting in the 800 block of W 24th Street. Officers arrived and learned that the victim had been transported by a private vehicle to Lawrence Memorial Hospital. Police radio traffic indicated that they located at least one casing at the scene. A bystander reportedly followed a believed suspect vehicle. Officers were able to catch up with and stop that vehicle. Two people were detained at the vehicle stop and were being questioned. As of 7 a.m., no arrests have been recorded in the incident. The victim's injuries are not said to be life threatening. More on this story can be found here from Operation 100 News and here from the Lawrence Journal-World's story.

After 2 a.m., Police in Lawrence responded on two noise complaints, and a disturbance.

Officers also received information on a reported indecent exposure. The incident was reported around 2:40 a.m. in the 400 block of W 23rd Street. A caller reported that a male had exposed himself to her. Three officers checked the area, there has not been any word of anyone being located as a suspect in the incident.

Police received information on a non-injury accident. One of the involved drivers walked in a report to a Police station. It was unclear, from scanner traffic, where the accident actually occurred.

A Douglas County Deputy reported making a DUI related arrest around 4:15 a.m., near the intersection of 6th and Maine.

Other than the shooting reported above, no serious injuries or incidents involving the use of any weapons were reported early this morning.
